It’s a battle royale in card form!
Dungeon Mayhem is a fun, quick, card game that you can play with 2-4 players. The recommended age is 8+, however my 6 year old daughter loves playing it (the four year old just wants to be “Lellow” and ends up with the cards EVERYWHERE but he feels involved)! Each round lasts about 5-10 minutes, depending on how quickly you manage to kill each other.

It goes like this…
There are four characters to pick from. The Paladin, Barbarian, Wizard, or Rogue. Each one has their own deck with special cards and abilities specific to their class, they also have a different balance of health and attack cards. This makes it a game of strategy and chance as you don’t know which cards you’ll be dealt, but you need to be smart in what cards you play.

Each turn consists of draw a card and play a card.
Each card has different symbols in different combinations. Attack (1 damage per symbol), Armor (which blocks one attack per Shield symbol), Extra turn (again, 1 extra play per symbol), Health (+1 per symbol), and then you have the special abilities. Each character also comes with a health track and a card that details what the symbols mean as a handy quick-reference.

You start with three cards at the beginning and away you go! Draw one, play one and do what it says on the card. If you get into a cycle of “exta plays” and end up with no cards in your hand, you draw two and keep going! The goal is to kill/knock-out each other in the quickest and most effective way possible!
I find the Paladin quite powerful as she’s given a lot of healing cards, while the barbarian can hit HARD. The wizard has some interesting abilities, but because the special cards are limited, he seems the weakest of the group. However, I’m sure he could be more powerful depending on the player. The rogue is very good with lots of “extra play” cards, but that’s balanced by not having as many healing cards.
All in all, I would happily recommend this game! It’s fun and quick and you can get as competitive as you like. The artwork is really good and card designs are very clever. The names of some cards are really funny, too!

My kids especially enjoy shouting “FINGER WAG OF JUDGEMENT” at each other.
I haven’t played it with a grown-up crowd yet (thanks Covid) but perhaps I’ll update this with that experience when we can get together again.
